Craft Beer

Beer breweries big and small are all touting purity and natural ingredients these days. It’s brilliant. But it should be a given with craft beer. After the mash has settled what we all really want is a good liquid mood enhancer – full of aromas, enlivening flavours and great hop character. We make our beer with our hands and use only yeast, rainwater, and fistfuls of hops. It’s all about subtle differences in varieties and combinations.


Like with our handcrafted beers, you won’t find any packet-mix nonsense in our kitchen restaurant, it’s all about fistfuls of freshness. So fresh in fact we pluck the fruit and veg from our own kitchen garden as much as we can. We bake our own bread and make our own sauces. Our eggs are laid by our free roaming brewery chooks. If you listen, you’ll hear they hiccup rather than cluck.


Live Music

Saturday and Sunday afternoons feature live jazz, blues and acoustic music in the Biergarten. Hallertau is a founding supporter of the Auckland Jazz Festival.
